Database Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, development, integration, and operation of contemporary data platform solutions.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance PostgreSQL databases, focusing on database design, performance optimization, and ongoing operational support.

• Construct and manage PostgreSQL stored procedures, functions, and SQL queries.

• Collaborate with PostgreSQL and pg_lake to facilitate scalable data storage and analytical workloads.

• Set up and manage integrations between PostgreSQL environments and Databricks.

• Partner with cloud, data, and application teams to provide secure and dependable data solutions.

• Assist with deployments and operational tasks within Microsoft Azure cloud environments.

• Utilize Kubernetes or a Kubernetes distribution to aid in the deployment, configuration, and operation of database-related services.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation for database configurations, integrations, processes, and delivered solutions.

• Recognize opportunities to enhance automation, performance, reliability, and standardization throughout the data platform.

• Collaborate with customer stakeholders and technical teams across various locations and time zones.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least five (5) years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or equivalent applicable experience.

• Extensive hands-on experience with PostgreSQL Server administration, development, and optimization.

• Strong understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL), including the ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex queries.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining PostgreSQL stored procedures and functions.

• Familiarity with pg_lake or similar PostgreSQL-based analytical data capabilities.

• Experience in configuring or supporting integrations between PostgreSQL and Databricks.

• Good understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-based data platforms.

• Experience using Kubernetes or a Kubernetes distribution in a production or enterprise setting.

• Knowledge of database security, access management, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, customer-facing setting.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Residing in Canada.

• Canadian resident or holder of a valid work permit in Canada.
