Database Administrator – Clearance Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Appian developers, system architects, DevSecOps engineers, information assurance personnel, and functional teams.

• Oversee and ensure the health of databases across production, test, development, and various other supported ACWS environments.

• Conduct proactive database maintenance, performance optimization, query enhancement, capacity planning, and health monitoring.

• Create and implement database schemas, data models, indexes, and migration strategies.

• Ensure database security, hardening, patching, access control, and compliance with STIG and DoD standards.

• Manage procedures for backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster preparedness.

• Diagnose database errors, performance issues, connectivity problems, locking or resource contention, and data inconsistencies.

• Assist Appian application teams with database design, SQL development, query optimization, data troubleshooting, and release processes.

• Work alongside DevSecOps and infrastructure teams on deployment automation, configuration management, monitoring, and patching.

• Facilitate data migrations, upgrades, schema modifications, and integration tasks.

• Maintain documentation for databases, runbooks, configuration records, and operational procedures.

• Engage in incident response, root cause analysis, problem management, corrective actions, Agile planning, and release processes.

• Convey database risks, dependencies, and technical recommendations to stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in database administration supporting enterprise applications or mission-critical systems.

• Proficient experience with relational database technologies, such as Oracle and/or SQL Server.

• Extensive experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with database security, patching, hardening, and STIG or similar compliance standards.

• Proficient in SQL, schema design, data modeling, query optimization, and database migration efforts.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to clearly communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Active Secret clearance or the capability to obtain and maintain one.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or an equivalent database certification is preferred.

• Experience in supporting database services for the Appian Platform or other Appian-based enterprise applications is preferred.

• Familiarity with Appian data stores, application performance, and Appian-related database troubleshooting.

• Experience with MarkLogic, NoSQL, or other non-relational database technologies.

• Experience with AWS database services or cloud-hosted database environments.

• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar automation tools.

• Experience supporting Army, DoD, federal acquisition, or other highly regulated mission-critical systems.
