Data Solution Architect

📋 Description

• Design and implement large-scale data solutions that facilitate analytics, reporting, and data-driven business functionalities.

• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, data engineering, and business teams to develop scalable, secure, and robust technology solutions.

• Engage in the design, construction, testing, and deployment of technology solutions within Agile teams.

• Work with domain leadership and Enterprise Architecture to establish suitable solution designs.

• Create conceptual, logical, and physical architectures that align with enterprise architecture principles and standards.

• Develop data and cloud solutions for cloud, hybrid, and on-premises platforms.

• Convert business, technology, and data requirements into enterprise-level architectures.

• Design data platforms, integration patterns, APIs, and data movement solutions for batch, near-real-time, and streaming workloads.

• Assess solution alternatives and articulate architecture trade-offs, risks, and recommendations.

• Ensure that solutions comply with security, resiliency, governance, compliance, and risk management requirements.

• Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and technical decision-making processes.

• Produce architecture artifacts, technical documentation, solution diagrams, implementation guidance, and operational handoff materials.

• Investigate emerging technologies and industry trends for innovation and modernization opportunities.

• Support Enterprise and Solution Architects with architecture dependencies across products and platforms.

• Review vendor solutions and engage in proof-of-concept initiatives.

• Comply with company risk and regulatory standards, policies, controls, and Risk Appetite.

• Identify risk-related issues that necessitate escalation to management.

• Foster an environment that encourages belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

• Uphold internal control standards and execute audit and regulatory findings.

• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience, or alternatively, a combined minimum of 9 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience.

• Proven experience in designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.

• Familiarity with solution architecture, application architecture, data architecture, and integration design patterns.

• Background in software, platform, data, or service engineering and delivery.

• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at various organizational levels.

• Capability to research and implement modern technology trends related to technology initiatives.

• Proficiency in evaluating, comparing, and articulating multiple approaches to address complex technical challenges.

• Experience in developing and integrating applications, APIs, platforms, and data solutions using established architecture principles and patterns.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms, security controls, infrastructure, networking, and technology modernization practices.

• Understanding of technology governance, resiliency, security, compliance, and risk management requirements.

• Preferred: Graduate degree in a technical field.

• Preferred: Experience in two or more technical disciplines such as application development, data engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or solution architecture.

• Preferred: Experience in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure and related technologies.

• Preferred: Experience with modern data platforms, analytics solutions, integration technologies, and cloud-native architectures.

• Preferred: Experience in designing data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouses, and enterprise data integration solutions.

• Preferred: Experience in delivering technology strategy presentations and architecture recommendations to senior leadership.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile and DevOps delivery environments.

• Preferred: Industry-recognized certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, or similar cloud and architecture credentials.

• Preferred: Experience in the financial services sector.

• Preferred: Knowledge of banking regulatory, security, governance, and compliance requirements affecting technology and data solutions.
