This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Design, develop, and manage integration pipelines that ingest data from and send data to third-party APIs, webhooks, and custom endpoints.
• Transform, normalize, and map data payloads between SafelyYou’s internal schema and the specifications of external partners.
• Validate incoming third-party data, isolate any failed data, and automate processes for resolving anomalies with external partners.
• Oversee and implement complex data backfills and Go-Live integration pipelines for new customer launches.
• Create and uphold technical documentation and API specifications for both internal engineering teams and external partners.
• Diagnose and resolve integration failures, manage rate limits, and handle edge cases on a large scale.
• Develop robust retry mechanisms.
• Construct systems and tools that allow non-engineering personnel to configure, monitor, and execute third-party integration backfills.
• Create automated tests and verify payload outputs through continuous pipeline monitoring.
• Operate within an Agile framework to plan, track, and enhance the delivery of integration features and products.
• Work collaboratively with customer support, operations, and product teams.
• Provide technical assistance and participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
• Collaborate with R&D architects, data engineers, backend developers, and cross-functional teams to define and implement integration patterns.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on integration patterns and identify opportunities for architectural improvements.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software, backend, or data engineering, ideally within a startup setting.
• Extensive hands-on experience in building, using, and managing integrations with REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL for creating reliable data transformation and integration pipelines.
• Proven experience in managing complex data transformations, schema mapping, and payload normalization across various systems.
• Experience in resolving API failure modes and operational challenges at scale, including strategies like exponential backoff, dead-letter queues, and idempotency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience in producing technical documentation, ADRs, or API specifications.
• Proficiency with modern data stack tools such as dbt and PySpark.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration concepts and tools, such as Airflow.
• Experience with Terraform and cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Athena, RDS, and EKS.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and data privacy regulations such as HIPAA is highly desirable.
• Experience with HL7 data feeds and the FHIR API specification is a significant advantage.
• Experience with remote work and distributed, asynchronous engineering teams.
