Data Scientist, Applied AI/ML

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create innovative and effective solutions for challenges in AI safety and cybersecurity detection.

• Collaborate on comprehensive research and development strategies and implementations, which encompass data sourcing, data labeling, advanced modeling, evaluation/benchmarking, and product-ready engineering cooperation.

• Work closely with product and engineering teams to design and develop tailored, efficient, computable, and maintainable solutions.

• Propel innovation in LLM-related research and development alongside security experts.

• Oversee trade-offs among accuracy, efficiency, and operational costs for deployed AI/ML models.

• Make informed decisions regarding GenAI model architectures, training methods, and deployment strategies.

• Lead and shape the research strategy for new GenAI agents/LLMs and define the technical direction.

• Advance innovation in LLM applications, including reasoning, summarization, and interactivity.

• Mentor and support Data Scientists while promoting engineering excellence.

• Spearhead cross-functional projects and partner with senior leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.

• Showcase CrowdStrike’s technical expertise through publications, speaking engagements, and thought leadership.

• Set forth best practices, technical standards, and evaluation frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.

• 5+ years of practical machine learning/research experience.

• Proven expertise in developing production-ready models.

• Extensive knowledge in LLM training or post-training/deployment at scale.

• Strong technical leadership experience, including mentoring teams and steering technical strategy.

• Advanced proficiency in Python, deep learning frameworks, and cloud technologies.

• Expert understanding of GPU technologies and optimization techniques.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

• History of addressing complex technical challenges at scale.
