This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Provide assistance with the system-wide Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI), including chart corrections, duplicate merges, overlays, and other responsibilities related to Data Integrity Analyst functions for OhioHealth entities utilizing Epic (Care Connect).
• Facilitate EMPI functions pertaining to Community Connect entities as necessary.
• Evaluate data integrity issues by analyzing regulatory requirements, state and federal laws, Joint Commission standards, the 21st Century Cures Act, and HIPAA.
• Help with duplicate merges, chart corrections, and overlays.
• Resolve data integrity challenges and ensure that each patient maintains a single medical record number across OhioHealth systems.
• Oversee overlay reports, potential duplicate patient work queues, and manage assigned chart correction cases.
• Investigate and verify patient identities using clinical and registration notes, physician orders, prescriptions, medications, and other relevant data.
• Assess demographic and clinical data to ascertain accurate patient information.
• Inform downstream systems, departments, and support staff of any changes to data integrity or medical record numbers.
• Review and process incoming electronic medical record messages or tasks associated with care coordination, privacy/security, and the integrity of protected health information.
• Address inquiries from external facilities and practices related to health information exchange operations and support.
• Handle multiple critical tasks and assignments effectively under pressure.
• Convey complex patient chart and data integrity information and address questions throughout the organization.
• Engage in training and recertification for professional growth and job competency.
• Attend meetings and fulfill other assigned responsibilities and projects.
• Provide after-hours/on-call support for urgent requests and coverage as necessary.
• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree.
• RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification from the American Health Information Management Association, or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification from the American Health Information Management Association.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Data Integrity/EMPI data.
• Strong critical thinking, deductive reasoning, logic, and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, state and federal laws, Joint Commission standards, the 21st Century Cures Act, and HIPAA.
• Proficient in data abstraction and computer skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and organizational capabilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Capacity to manage multiple critical tasks and assignments simultaneously with efficiency and precision.
• Experience with Epic (Care Connect), electronic medical records, health information exchange processes, and interface error queues.
• Willingness to provide after-hours/on-call support when necessary.
• Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
• Day shift availability.
