This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Lead and nurture a team of Data Analytics experts.
• Take charge of coaching, conducting regular check-ins, managing performance, facilitating competency development, engaging in career discussions, performing annual reviews, and planning for training and certification.
• Provide both functional and technical guidance across Data Product teams.
• Challenge existing analytical methodologies and serve as a sparring partner for intricate analytics, data modeling, and BI issues.
• Actively contribute to selected analytics projects and address complex data challenges.
• Offer Senior Data Analyst-level expertise to the team without assuming responsibility for daily deliverables.
• Establish and refine standards, best practices, and workflows across analytics engineering, data modeling, Power BI, self-service analytics, and AI-assisted development.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Data Engineering leadership within the matrix organization.
• Ensure the presence of the right personnel, skills, technical quality, and developmental environment.
• Assist in workforce planning, recruiting, screening, onboarding, and the development of both internal and external talent.
• Foster an environment that promotes technical expertise and growth in the business domain.
• Strong hands-on experience in Data Analytics or Analytics Engineering.
• Technical skills comparable to those of a Senior Data Analyst.
• Deep understanding of SQL, data modeling, BI, and contemporary analytics architectures.
• Experience working with modern cloud analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Power BI/Microsoft Fabric, and the Microsoft Azure ecosystem is highly advantageous, or substantial experience with similar modern data and analytics technologies.
• Demonstrated experience in people management.
• Ideally, 3+ years of experience leading teams in Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, or similar technical roles, including coaching, performance management, hiring, feedback, and career development.
• Experience in at least one relevant business or data domain.
• Ability to influence, coach, and align people within a matrix organization.
• Confidence in communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable challenging current methodologies and fostering consensus around improved solutions.
• Ability to work remotely within Germany with a monthly presence in Cologne.
• The tech stack includes Databricks, SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Cloud, dbt, Python, AI-assisted development, Tabular Models, and Power BI Service.
• Work from home, with a personalized work location arrangement; up to 20 days a year anywhere in the EU.
• Full reimbursement for travel expenses related to monthly meetings in Cologne.
