Dashboard Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the public-facing technology for The National Map, a critical resource of the U.S. Geological Survey.

• Create and improve web applications that facilitate easier access, exploration, and understanding of USGS geospatial data.

• Collaborate with existing codebases to enhance functionality.

• Design visually appealing, user-centric interfaces.

• Improve the presentation of geospatial information.

• Develop and refine scripted processes that support geospatial data processing and delivery.

• Document development choices, workflows, and technical modifications.

• Assist in maintaining clear and sustainable technical solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related discipline, along with 5+ years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated experience in developing, enhancing, and maintaining responsive, user-focused web applications and interfaces using JavaScript, React, and contemporary JavaScript libraries.

• Experience in contributing to existing code, improving functionality, and enhancing the presentation of geospatial data.

• Ability to document development workflows and technical decisions through written documentation, code comments, assignment tickets, or similar methods.

• Strong initiative and collaboration skills.

• Capability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks.

• Proactive in identifying opportunities for application and development process improvements.

• Familiarity with Python scripting for geospatial data processing.

• Proficiency in modern web development technologies such as Node.js, Vite, Next.js, Typescript, or similar tools.

• Experience developing web mapping applications using ArcGIS JavaScript API or similar geospatial mapping technologies.

• Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
