This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.
• Compile comprehensive document packages and supply necessary details to customs brokers for export declarations.
• Examine commercial information, such as declared values, country of origin, Incoterms, and product descriptions.
• Confirm the accuracy of export documentation and customs entries to ensure compliance with EU customs regulations.
• Prepare replies and supporting materials for inquiries from customs authorities.
• Manage interactions with customs brokers, transportation companies, and customs authorities.
• Investigate and resolve inconsistencies in export declarations and related documents.
• Coordinate with stakeholders during customs audits and reviews.
• Accurately and promptly handle urgent and non-standard customs cases.
• Evaluate product eligibility under preferential trade agreements.
• Manage Supplier’s Declarations and gather information for EUR.1 certificates.
• Assist with T2 procedures and mandatory invoice declarations for San Marino.
• Oversee customs procedures for warranty replacements, claim returns, repair shipments, and re-imports.
• Coordinate duty-free re-import processes and other special customs arrangements.
• Develop case-specific solutions adhering to EU and local customs regulations, including the BAP system where applicable.
• Identify and confirm HS codes for technical and manufacturing products.
• Coordinate special export processes and resolve documentation issues during month-end closing.
• Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, finance, and internal teams to ensure timely processing of shipments.
• Provide export guidance and perform pre-shipment documentation checks.
• Enhance customs and export workflows.
• Work with IT and operations teams on ERP enhancements and process automation.
• Support robust and scalable customs compliance processes.
• 3–5+ years of professional experience as a Customs Specialist, Customs Brokerage Manager, Export Compliance Specialist, or similar customs operations role.
• Strong practical understanding of EU export customs procedures, rules of origin, and preferential trade agreements.
• Hands-on experience with EUR.1 certificates, Supplier’s Declarations, T2 procedures, and export documentation.
• Experience in determining and verifying HS codes, ideally for technical or manufacturing products.
• Experience in direct communication with customs authorities and managing third-party customs brokers.
• Experience handling non-standard shipments, including returns, warranty replacements, repairs, and re-import processes.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and customs software or system integrations.
• Strong attention to detail in reviewing complex commercial and customs documentation.
• Demonstrated ownership and problem-solving abilities to independently handle intricate cases.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines, especially during month-end closing.
• A process-oriented mindset with an interest in continuous improvement and automation.
• Proficiency in English at B2/C1 level.
• Current residency and work authorization within the European Union.
• Proficiency in additional European languages would be advantageous.
