Critical Power Strategy Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the Commissioning of essential power and EV charging infrastructure.

• Assess intricate equipment and electrical challenges while confirming site preparedness.

• Address commissioning obstacles and facilitate the energization and commissioning of sites.

• Examine work requests, FSRs, photographs, testing outcomes, alarms, error codes, site records, and equipment documentation.

• Identify necessary expertise, tools, testing, components, OEM/vendor participation, and field resources.

• Aid in complex troubleshooting and escalate issues to Engineering or OEMs as needed.

• Manage technical transitions between Commissioning, NOC, Engineering, OEMs, Construction, and field service teams.

• Lead or assist in technical investigations and root cause analyses.

• Evaluate equipment faults and field data to detect trends and suggest corrective or preventive measures.

• Convert technical findings into scopes of work, troubleshooting procedures, and field guidance.

• Enhance and refine Commissioning processes, standards, workflows, handoffs, tools, and documentation.

• Assist in critical power campaigns, site replacements, decommissioning efforts, and strategic programs.

• Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms for commissioning challenges, equipment trends, process deficiencies, and execution enhancements.

• Create training materials and promote knowledge sharing.

• Provide secondary technical assistance to the Power Restoration Team for complex restoration challenges.

• Aid in OEM/Engineering escalation, repair versus replacement assessments, specialized troubleshooting, and lessons learned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or 5+ years of equivalent experience.

• Proficient understanding of electrical theory, schematics/SLDs, electrical testing, EV charging equipment, switchgear, and safe work practices.

• Advanced technical expertise in commissioning, site readiness, energization, equipment faults, alarms, electrical failures, and field diagnostics.

• Technical knowledge of EV charging equipment, electrical distribution systems, switchgear, and related power infrastructure.

• Experience in electrical system troubleshooting, testing, and repairs.

• Proven record of supporting commissioning, energization, corrective maintenance, or power-restoration activities.

• Capability to review field documentation, test results, FSRs, alarms, and equipment data, translating findings into a defined scope and actionable next steps.

• Development and execution of technical procedures, troubleshooting guidelines, and training resources.

• Strong time management and multitasking skills.

• Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time.

• Availability to work outside of standard business hours when required.

• Desired qualifications include NFPA70E, OSHA30, other relevant safety certifications, OEM/manufacturer training, DC fast charging experience, switchgear/power-system testing and repair, commissioning and field-service experience, alongside other electrical certifications.
