
Crisis Call Specialist – Day or Swing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.
• Deliver compassionate and impartial crisis intervention over the phone.
• Perform assessments for suicide risk and behavioral health, and assist in de-escalation processes.
• Work in collaboration with on-duty clinicians when advanced intervention is necessary.
• Create safety and action plans with individuals facing crises.
• Link callers to suitable community resources and crisis response partners.
• Maintain accurate documentation of interactions in the electronic health record system.
• Adhere to established 988 Lifeline protocols and performance standards.
• Contribute to team objectives concerning response times, availability, and quality of care.
• Offer emotional support to those undergoing mental health crises through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
• High school diploma or GED along with four (4) years of full-time behavioral health experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience in Behavioral Health, or an Associate degree with 2 years of Behavioral Health experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple software platforms in a fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to stay focused and composed during emotionally charged discussions.
• Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential must be obtained by the end of the probationary period; applications should be submitted within 30 days of hiring.
• Experience in crisis intervention or suicide prevention is essential.
• Background in behavioral health or contact center operations.
• Familiarity with the King County and Washington State public mental health systems.
• Must be a resident of Washington, Arizona, Ohio, or Texas.
• Dependable high-speed internet with a wired connection is required; no hotspots or satellite connections are permitted.
• A smartphone that supports Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is necessary.
• A quiet and private workspace that is suitable for confidential conversations is required.
• Ability to sit and use a headset for extended durations.
• A brief computer skills assessment will be required as part of the hiring process.
• Crisis Connections will cover the expenses for obtaining the Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential.
• This is a union-represented position (OPEIU).
