This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate title commitments, exceptions, plats, and surveys while collaborating with the Title Team and outside legal counsel to create lender title policies.
• Work alongside corporate counsel, closing teams, title teams, and loan officers on various transactional legal matters.
• Analyze borrower organizational documents to identify signature blocks and the necessary borrower consent requirements.
• Collaborate with the production team to acquire additional organizational data.
• Address inquiries from the Servicing Team regarding partial releases, subordinate debt, easements, and related matters, while preparing the required documentation.
• Conduct research on legal questions across different jurisdictions.
• Provide training to internal teams on real estate transactional legal issues.
• Draft documentation on legal processes for use by internal teams.
• Aid in the creation of complex closing documents for larger loan originations upon request.
• Oversee and manage issues related to defaulted loans.
• Support the administration team with special projects and other assigned responsibilities.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business, Real Estate, or a related field; paralegal certification is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience in supporting real estate transactions, commercial lending, or a comparable legal setting.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in defaulted loans, loan workouts, or special assets.
• Solid understanding of real estate and lending documentation, including title commitments, exceptions, surveys, plats, easements, releases, and organizational documents.
• Experience in reviewing borrower organizational documents and identifying requirements for signature, authorization, and consent.
• Capability to research and analyze legal issues across various jurisdictions.
• Proven experience working with attorneys, title companies, lenders, loan officers, servicing teams, and other internal stakeholders.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to recognize potential legal, documentation, and title issues.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to juggle multiple transactions and priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining legal and transactional documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Strong judgment, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
