Creative Technology Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and responsibility for the technical context, decisions, architectural planning, and feasibility assessments for integrated and innovative technology elements of large-scale projects.

• Make final decisions regarding creative technology and software development, including the choice to engage outside vendors or specialists.

• Act as the technical lead on large projects, exhibits, or initiatives involving multiple exhibits.

• Collaborate with production and integration teams to establish pre-production timelines, schedules, and budgets.

• Monitor project progress and deliverables while ensuring adherence to schedules with the project manager or producer.

• Execute, test, and implement software development while assigning tasks to other team members.

• Investigate problem-solving avenues and create prototypes for high-risk or unfamiliar components.

• Lead small development teams and potentially oversee direct reports.

• Create resource plans.

• Contribute to and steer concept creation and ideation alongside the creative team throughout the production process.

• Provide internal and external thought leadership, representing Deeplocal as a leader in Creative Technology.

• Mentor direct reports and other team members.

• Build and maintain a network of freelance resources in creative technology.

• Contribute to processes, team structures, and hiring decisions within the Creative Technology department.

⛳️ Requirements

• Typical, but not mandatory, years of experience: 7+ years.

• Strong understanding of technical considerations beyond core Creative Technology expertise, including electrical and mechanical engineering, fabrication and procurement, architecture and construction, AV, and integration with third-party hardware/software.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong presentation skills and the ability to engage confidently with clients.

• Expert-level skills in software development, particularly in full-stack web development or TouchDesigner, with a general understanding of the other area.

• Familiarity with a diverse range of creative software development tools and a willingness to engage hands-on with those tools.

• Remote candidates must be willing to travel to Pittsburgh as necessary.
