This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.
• Formulate and execute long-term credit and investment strategies for community development within the Bank’s Assessment Areas.
• Evaluate CRA credit and investment opportunities that align with CRA/Community Development and the Bank's strategic objectives.
• Underwrite and structure transactions, oversee documentation, and lead the underwriting and due diligence processes for qualifying CRA investments, including LIHTC, NMTC, EQ2, and SBIC.
• Balance strategic objectives, community impact, profitability, policy, and risk.
• Serve as an internal advocate for CRA initiatives with business line partners and external stakeholders, including investors, developers, and vendors.
• Develop and implement strategies in collaboration with Senior Leadership, the CRA Investment Working Group, Community Engagement, Corporate Stewardship, CD Officers, and local leadership.
• Coordinate with Credit, Small Business, Commercial, Retail, Mortgage, ERM, MarCom, Corporate Stewardship, and regional/community leadership to address local needs.
• Assist local leadership in identifying investment opportunities and resources for new Community Development loans and investment projects.
• Lead and support community development loans and investments, encompassing both commercial and mortgage-related transactions.
• Conduct or assist with commercial and community development credit underwriting, analyzing financial statements, cash flows, collateral, repayment sources, global debt capacity, and risk factors.
• Assess, structure, and recommend community development loans and investments that align with CRA objectives, credit policies, and risk appetite.
• Perform due diligence on LIHTC, NMTC, EQ2, loan funds, CDFI-related credit extensions, and securitized investments.
• Prepare or contribute to credit memos, investment summaries, approval packages, and materials for portfolio monitoring.
• Collaborate with Credit, Finance, Risk, CRA Investment Working Group, CD Officers, and leaders from various business lines on transaction structuring, policy compliance, risk appetite, and eligibility.
• Monitor the performance, covenant compliance, and impact/results of community development credit and investments.
• Identify and alleviate transaction, credit, operational, compliance, and strategic risks.
• Analyze data and create risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, planning, networking, and volunteer activities.
• Present opportunities aimed at fostering growth in Community Development Loans and Investments while building meaningful and lasting relationships.
• Take ownership of tasks and challenges associated with the assigned position.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in CRA/Community Development finance, commercial credit, underwriting, lending, and/or community development investments.
• Proven experience in evaluating community development loans, tax credit investments, structured finance, or securitized investment products.
• Experience collaborating with credit, risk, legal, compliance, and business line stakeholders during transaction execution.
• Proficient in commercial credit analysis and underwriting for non-profit and community development financing structures.
• Skilled in financial statement analysis and cash flow evaluation, credit risk assessment, and risk rating concepts.
• Experience in structuring and conducting due diligence on complex community development lending facilities, such as LIHTC, NMTC, EQ2, and others.
• Familiarity with securitized community development investment vehicles and associated risk considerations.
• Capability to conduct due diligence for securitized community development investments.
• Ability to synthesize financial, community impact, and regulatory factors into recommendations for business lines and leadership.
• Strong understanding of the Community Reinvestment Act and Fair Lending laws and regulations.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and presentations.
• Willingness to collaborate and work across various business lines, demonstrating high emotional intelligence, adaptability, and discretion.
• Competent in managing workflow and assignments while prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
