Country Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Create and execute strategies aimed at expanding the reach and effectiveness of the Foundation's offerings in South Africa.

• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with national and provincial governments, along with other mission-aligned organizations.

• Lead interactions with senior education stakeholders to influence the policy landscape.

• Ensure that programs and partnerships include well-defined monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

• Utilize data and feedback to guarantee quality and pinpoint areas for enhancement.

• Work collaboratively across the Foundation to develop and enhance products tailored for South African educators and youth.

• Build, lead, and oversee a highly competent team.

• Ensure the implementation of accessibility, inclusion, and safeguarding commitments.

• Manage the budget for South Africa and report progress to key funders alongside the Chief Growth Officer.

• Contribute to the organization’s strategic direction, culture, and values as a member of the Leadership team.

• Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation in external engagements.

• If necessary, coordinate the establishment of Raspberry Pi Foundation operations in South Africa, including entity formation, finance, and governance setup.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess eligibility to work in South Africa.

• Proven experience in leading educational programs at scale within South Africa.

• Background in developing and managing high-value strategic partnerships with governments, NGOs, and other mission-driven organizations.

• Established relationships with senior national government officials, provincial education authorities, and education stakeholders in South Africa.

• Experience in a senior management role, with the capability to build and support diverse teams.

• Ideally, experience managing remote and geographically dispersed teams.

• Track record of delivering impactful learning experiences, products, and programs, particularly aimed at young people.

• Strong knowledge of measuring learner success, demonstrating program impact, and utilizing data for continuous improvement.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with experience scaling programs or organizations through government partnerships.

• Proven ability to leverage thought leadership, advocacy, and policy influence to drive systemic change.

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, with experience integrating these principles into program design, delivery, and evaluation.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Commitment to the Foundation’s mission.

• Must undergo a background check to confirm suitability for working with children.

• This is a permanent role; available on a full-time, part-time, or flexible working basis.
