This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist the capital markets team in developing the company's network of funding sources and strategies, including global expansion.
• Collaborate with the bank partnerships team to establish connections with originating and card-issuing partner banks.
• Oversee financing transactions and initiatives from discussions on legal strategies to the execution of deals.
• Draft, review, and negotiate capital markets deal documents for both US and international contexts, including credit and security agreements, loan sale agreements, indentures, officer certificates, board and shareholder resolutions, and side letters.
• Deliver legal advice in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
• Provide support for special projects.
• Report directly to the Director of Capital Markets Counsel.
• Collaborate closely with Affirm’s capital markets and bank partnerships business teams.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm.
• Preferable to have additional in-house experience, especially from a high-growth fintech startup.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a reputable law school.
• Active membership in a US state bar.
• Legal expertise in structured and/or debt finance, encompassing term, revolving, and asset-based lending; warehouse and asset-backed financing; loan sales; securitizations; and innovative funding methods.
• Comprehensive knowledge of lending and securities laws and regulations pertaining to capital markets transactions.
• Exceptional integrity and work ethic.
• Strong business judgment and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills.
• Keen attention to detail, maturity, business savvy, proactive attitude, and a positive demeanor.
• Demonstrated experience as a significant contributor within a high-performing team.
• Self-driven with a readiness to take ownership of projects.
• Capability to work efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
