Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver comprehensive legal counsel and services pertaining to litigation, arbitration, and associated legal matters and strategies.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external counsel to devise case strategies, manage discovery, and resolve disputes.

• Utilize independent judgment and decision-making skills regarding litigation issues and related responsibilities.

• Leverage extensive and broad expertise in litigation practices.

• Assume full responsibility for legal matters.

• Organize and oversee individual litigation cases from initiation to trial.

• Operate with minimal supervision.

• Occasionally travel to Humana offices for training or meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the ABA.

• Active and licensed member of a state bar association.

• Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience.

• Exceptional project management and organizational capabilities throughout all phases of litigation from inception to trial.

• Proficient in organizing and effectively managing multiple case matters simultaneously.

• Strong ability to articulate complex legal issues to a variety of stakeholders.

• Skilled at risk mitigation by serving as a trusted advisor whose strategic insights, practical problem-solving, and proactive guidance are valued by clients.

• Capable of working independently under general supervision as well as in team environments.

• Experience with large-scale e-discovery processes.

• Reliable internet service with a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps.

• A dedicated workspace that ensures minimal interruptions to safeguard member PHI / HIPAA information.

• Preferred: Experience in provider disputes and healthcare reimbursement issues.

• Preferred: Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including arbitration.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare laws and regulations.
