Cost Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee all operational cost accounting functions for the Network under the guidance of the Director, Cost Accounting.

• Manage decisions related to hiring and termination, staff coaching and development, performance management, and employee productivity.

• Plan, organize, staff, direct, and oversee the daily operations of the department.

• Formulate and execute policies and programs; manage budgetary responsibilities and applicable authority.

• Ensure consistent application of cost accounting principles across network entities.

• Maintain definitions for cost types, methodologies for indirect cost allocation, direct cost assignments, cost center hierarchies, and associated identifiers.

• Guide cost analysts in upholding cost allocation rules and processes for patient care cost information.

• Utilize SAS, Excel, Tableau, Alteryx, and other decision-support tools to generate reports, analyses, recommendations, and interactive visualizations.

• Assess the financial health of clinical delivery methods and settings.

• Facilitate institute-level financial reporting based on primary diagnosis data.

• Support payer reimbursement negotiations.

• Create business cases for long-term operational strategies.

• Prioritize capital equipment acquisitions and real estate development initiatives.

• Foster team development through mentoring and coaching.

• Cultivate collaborative relationships with hospital leadership and clinical teams to establish cost and productivity metrics.

• Lead discussions that translate clinical activities into productivity metrics using analytical tools, site visits, and video communications.

• Provide training and support to departments utilizing cost data and reporting tools.

• Ensure data integrity through adherence to standards, data processing, audits, and reconciliations.

• Execute other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management position.

• At least 3 years of experience in database development.

• A minimum of 3 years in cost accounting.

• Proficient in advanced Excel skills.

• Capacity to adapt to evolving computer technologies.

• Strong understanding of relational database structures, applications, and transactional systems.

• Familiarity with SQL, macros, and Visual Basic is preferred.

• Experience with healthcare-specific cost accounting systems such as EPSi, StrataJazz, etc., is preferred.

• At least 3 years of experience in Healthcare systems is preferred.

• CPA, CMA, or CHFP certification is preferred.

• Possess strong comprehension and communication skills.

• Ability to identify and define complex scenarios, collect facts, draw valid conclusions, and present findings and recommendations.
