This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Prepare, assess, and negotiate agreements related to customer payment processing, merchant operations, sponsor banks, SaaS, vendors, and partnerships.

• Review existing agreements for merchants, customers, vendors, and sponsor banks.

• Recognize and address regulatory requirements within customer, merchant, and banking agreements.

• Perform legal research on current payment processing topics, regulatory changes, and optimal practices.

• Work collaboratively with sales, product, engineering, and HR teams to deliver timely legal support.

• Maintain precise and organized legal documentation and databases.

• Assist with commercial and transactional legal issues across various functional areas.

• Ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and facilitate business expansion.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.

• Must be licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

• 7–10 years of legal experience, ideally in-house or at a law firm.

• Hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating agreements related to customer-facing payment processing, merchant operations, and SaaS.

• Knowledge or substantial familiarity with standard contractual terms pertaining to payment processing, merchant agreements, and SaaS services.

• Experience in payments/fintech transactions, including merchant processing agreements, ISO/payment facilitator agreements, and sponsor bank agreements.

• Understanding of card network regulations, including PCI/DSS, KYC/AML, and PSD2.

• Strong commercial acumen regarding liability and indemnity clauses in payment processing agreements.

• Capability to operate within pre-established risk parameters and escalate issues as necessary.

• Familiarity with money transmitter licensing and BSA/AML principles.

• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.

• Competence in managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Residency in the United States is required and must be maintained.
