Corporate Area Technical Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance to Corporate and mill teams overseeing DCS, QCS, PLC, and drive systems.

• Identify, propose, and provide DCS training opportunities for control system engineers and technicians.

• Get involved early in capital project development to ensure the correct specification and supportability of control system equipment.

• Establish expectations for DCS lifecycle management in relation to capital planning and long-term system reliability.

• Assist with corporate control system audits, assessments, and initiatives for improvement.

• Collaborate with Operations, IT, and Controls teams to develop and promote best practices for control systems.

• Lead or coordinate planning efforts for system updates, upgrades, and enhancements in reliability.

• Travel as necessary to support capital projects, reliability initiatives, troubleshooting efforts, and system upgrades.

• Create practical and innovative solutions to enhance cybersecurity on legacy control system platforms.

• Remain informed on supplier advisories, known issues, knowledge base articles, software updates, and emerging risks.

• Ensure DCS initiatives are consistent with risk management, production continuity, and operational resilience.

• Act as a resource for best practices and a liaison among mill teams, Corporate Technology specialists, and Corporate IT professionals.

• Assist each mill in maintaining, enhancing, and sustaining its DCS systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience.

• Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) hardware, including Honeywell, ABB Bailey, Emerson DeltaV, or Rockwell.

• Experience in control tuning.

• Background in instrumentation.

• Proficiency in DCS programming of logic.

• Experience in project management.

• Knowledge of DCS upgrades.

• Expertise in process optimization.

• Experience in project budget estimations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar software applications.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

• Capacity to listen to site concerns, share best practices, and adopt a service-oriented approach.

• Understanding of instrumentation, DCS technologies, cybersecurity threats, and industry best practices.

• Proactive, inquisitive, innovative, and dedicated to staying updated.

• Willingness to travel as necessary to support projects, reliability initiatives, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
