Controller Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Oversee the tasks assigned to the team

• Actively engage in cross-team initiatives to ensure teamwork aligns with required standards

• Guarantee that month-end and year-end closings for all Tiko entities adhere to SOPs

• Implement checks and balances in accordance with internal controls, policies, and procedures

• Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

• Supervise the accuracy and completeness of local accounting records

• Maintain, enhance, and monitor Tiko’s Annual Operating Budget

• Evaluate budgets and create monthly and quarterly projections/forecasts for approval

• Ensure adherence to accounting and fiscal regulations, Tiko policies, and donor requirements

• Organize and protect consolidated financial records

• Review local and global statutory audits, follow up on recommendations, and resolve audit findings

• Oversee the global payroll process, bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and global salary allocations to donor budgets

• Lead, develop, and mentor team members

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years in a controller position

• Fluent in English (C2 level) is required

• Bachelor's degree in finance or business administration

• Experience in team management

• Strong market experience in Portugal

• Practical experience in either the UK or the Netherlands

• Proven track record of working remotely with international teams

• Experience managing operations or transactions in EUR, USD, and other European or African currencies

• Solid understanding of accounting standards, internal control frameworks, and cost control strategies

• Excellent grasp of risk and compliance

• Must be currently residing in Portugal
