This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee accounting operations from start to finish, encompassing accounts payable, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

• Create and update a closing calendar that clearly outlines responsibilities for each deliverable.

• Establish accounting policies and ensure consistent application across different entities and reporting standards.

• Develop and uphold a uniform control environment across jurisdictions, which includes segregation of duties, approval limits, and documented procedures.

• Collaborate with local advisors and internal teams to fulfill tax, statutory, and compliance obligations in each market.

• Lead external and statutory audits while preparing statutory financial statements, ensuring documentation is audit-ready throughout the year.

• Deliver financial reporting and analysis of actuals to the CFO, senior leadership, and the Board, and provide FP&A with accurate actuals for planning and forecasting purposes.

• Guide and nurture an international accounting team, and spearhead automation and system enhancements that expedite the closing process and minimize manual tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in senior accounting and controllership roles, including management of the closing process and control environment.

• Proven experience managing accounting operations across various countries and currencies, while navigating local statutory, tax, and compliance variances.

• Demonstrated experience leading external and statutory audits as the main point of contact.

• Experience in leading managers or team leads and developing distributed teams.

• Possession of a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) or an equivalent qualification.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively with the CFO and senior leadership.

• Knowledge of Quebec's financial, tax, and regulatory requirements, along with working proficiency in French.

• Experience serving as the senior accounting owner for multiple legal entities, including handling statutory filings across various countries.

• Background in building and scaling an accounting function within an enterprise SaaS business, with a focus on revenue recognition at scale.

• Familiarity with utilizing AI tools to automate accounting processes and facilitate analysis, or a strong interest in applying AI within finance tasks.
