This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the monthly and annual financial closing process along with subsidiary ledgers.
• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate classification of transactions.
• Prepare and examine balance sheet reconciliations and accompanying schedules.
• Take charge of accounting for accruals, prepaids, payroll, receivables, payables, deferred items, program funds, and other significant accounts.
• Make and document accounting decisions and consistently apply accounting policies.
• Manage revenue accounting and ensure that revenue schedules are in alignment with contracts, operational activities, and source systems.
• Generate monthly financial reports along with supporting analyses.
• Ensure continuous readiness for audits.
• Establish standards for reconciliations, schedules, documentation, and exception management processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts, payment provider balances, program funds, accounts receivable, and accounts payable with the general ledger.
• Oversee billing, collections, cash receipts, accounts receivable aging, and resolution of billing discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable, spending controls, vendor records, expense classification, Ramp-to-Rillet synchronization, payment preparation, and release.
• Supervise program funds from receipt through disbursement and closeout.
• Maintain program balances, disbursements, fees, returns, outstanding transactions, and remaining funds.
• Oversee controls related to participant payments and funds movement.
• Manage treasury functions, company cash, banking operations, bank account administration, transfers, and cash visibility.
• Maintain controls for authorization, approval, access, segregation of duties, and anti-fraud measures.
• Prepare for audits and coordinate accounting support for tax, diligence, insurance, and compliance reviews.
• Oversee operational tax compliance workflows and filing/payment schedules.
• Administer Rillet and other financial systems.
• Enhance mappings, integrations, reporting, templates, checks, and automation.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Business Operations on financial infrastructure.
• Report directly to the CEO while working alongside the fractional CFO, Program Management, Engineering, and Mission Control.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, particularly in ownership of month-end close processes.
• Experience functioning as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or in a similar accounting leadership role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accrual accounting, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, revenue accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial controls.
• Strong accounting judgment with the ability to independently research, formulate, and document accounting conclusions.
• Experience in preparing a company for audits and engaging directly with auditors.
• Background in cash management, banking, treasury, payments, or other financial operations.
• Comfortable working in an environment characterized by high transaction volumes and complex reconciliation demands.
• Proficient in advanced Excel or Google Sheets, including structured and auditable financial analyses and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with modern accounting and finance systems; knowledge of Rillet and Ramp is advantageous.
• Proven ability to improve processes and automate repetitive financial tasks.
• Strong documentation practices.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously and take clear ownership of results.
• Sound judgment regarding when issues require escalation.
• Clear and direct communication style, maintaining a "no surprises" approach.
• Comfortable collaborating directly with a CEO and partnering with an external or fractional CFO.
