This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Provide back-office support in the contractual management of hydro projects, collaborating with project leadership and site teams.
• Safeguard contractual and commercial interests through effective contract administration, timely notifications, change management, and risk monitoring.
• Oversee contractual matters from the bidding stage or contract handover through to execution, close-out, and warranty phases.
• Analyze contractual rights, obligations, assumptions, exclusions, deliverables, milestones, remedies, and commercial stances.
• Compose, assess, and customize commercial and contractual communications.
• Engage in negotiations and the finalization of amendments, change orders, and other commercial agreements.
• Serve as the contractual expert for projects and liaise with project management, site teams, technical staff, controls, sourcing, quality, and additional functions.
• Prepare and oversee formal notifications, rights reservations, change requests, claims support documentation, and contractual submissions.
• Maintain accurate contractual records, registers, logs, trackers, dashboards, and updates for leadership.
• Identify contractual risks, opportunities, deviations, and key watchpoints.
• Coordinate substantiation packages, event chronologies, and supporting documentation for changes and claims.
• Monitor occurrences that may lead to cost or schedule impacts.
• Assist with the administration of supplier and subcontractor contracts and ensure flow-down obligations are met.
• Collaborate with project directors, project managers, legal teams, sourcing, finance, engineering, project controls, customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Aid in compliance, milestone verification, payment documentation, dispute strategies, contract close-out, final account documentation, releases, turnover, and management of warranty issues.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Business, Finance, Project Management, or a related technical or commercial field, along with a minimum of 5–8 years of proven experience in contract management within complex project settings.
• Proven experience in post-award contract administration, contract interpretation, and addressing contractual issues during project execution.
• Experience in drafting and managing formal contractual correspondence, notifications, amendments, and documentation related to changes.
• Strong comprehension of contractual risk allocation, commercial implications, and the relationship between project execution events and contract entitlements.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills, capable of managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and streams of documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capacity to work effectively across functions in a matrixed and international environment.
• Proficiency in English is essential.
• Experience supporting hydroelectric, pumped storage, power generation, or other intricate infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with EPC, split-scope, consortium, supply-and-install, or similarly complex project delivery frameworks.
• Knowledge of change management, claims support, commercial risk registers, and contract management practices.
• Ability to exercise sound commercial judgment based on contract language, project facts, and documented records.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to create clear, well-structured contractual communications and summaries.
• A proactive mindset, strong sense of ownership, and a willingness to identify issues early on and drive resolutions.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with remote teams and support site execution from a back-office perspective.
• Experience within a complex matrix organization.
• Opportunities for periodic travel for project meetings, internal workshops, customer discussions, supplier negotiations, or significant project milestones.
