📋 Description

• Create and execute strategies to incorporate community throughout the ALX talent journey, encompassing selection, recruitment, learning, transition, and alumni engagement.

• Work in partnership with Marketing, Recruitment, Learning, and Alumni teams to embed community-oriented methods into existing workflows.

• Design frameworks, toolkits, and playbooks to bolster regional community initiatives.

• Ensure that the community is driven by members and tailored to local needs, with centralized support for strategy, frameworks, and resource distribution.

• Establish a unified ALX community for learners and alumni.

• Oversee and manage eHub, the virtual community platform for ALX.

• Set up and sustain eHub groups, channels, and resources.

• Foster daily engagement on eHub, welcoming members, initiating discussions, highlighting content, and moderating conversations.

• Monitor and report eHub engagement metrics, including active users, posts, response times, and member sentiment.

• Manage eHub interest groups and assist interest group leaders with their spaces and programming.

• Plan, compose, and distribute monthly community newsletters.

• Manage the community communications calendar across email, eHub, and other member channels.

• Draft and distribute announcements for events, initiatives, campaigns, and organizational updates.

• Track newsletter and communication performance, optimizing content and frequency as necessary.

• Maintain a cohesive community voice and brand across all written and digital interactions.

• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for community integration, eHub, and communication effectiveness.

• Report on community engagement, member satisfaction, and program impact.

• Cultivate relationships with city leads, members, and cross-functional teams.

• Serve as the primary contact for community initiatives, ensuring smooth information dissemination.

• Curate and share content generated by members and highlight success stories.

• Empower cities to promote local engagement, share insights, and develop communities of practice.


⛳️ Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience in community management, social/digital media, internal communications, or program management, preferably in education, technology, or membership-based organizations.

• Practical experience managing an online community platform (e.g., Discourse, Circle, Slack, Discord, or similar) at scale.

• Demonstrated capability to plan and compose newsletters and other member communications with a consistent, brand-aligned voice.

• Proficient in using email/newsletter tools (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot, or similar) and basic engagement analytics.

• Experience in planning and executing community events, whether virtual, in-person, or hybrid.

• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to adjust tone and message for different channels and audiences.

• Comfortable working with data: tracking engagement metrics, identifying trends, and translating insights into actionable strategies.

• Ability to collaborate with city leads, members, and cross-functional teams across various locations, including virtually.

• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with a hands-on approach.

• Self-motivated, organized, and adept at working in a digital-first environment.

• Strong communication skills, with an ability to remain connected, work proactively, and take initiative.

• Nice to have: experience in moderating or establishing online communities from the ground up.

• Nice to have: familiarity with community-led growth, ambassador, or referral programs.

• Nice to have: experience with graphic or content creation tools (e.g., Canva).

• Nice to have: understanding of behavioral psychology or engagement strategies.
