Community Pharmacy Team Lead – Third Shift

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Assist the Community Pharmacy Team Manager by overseeing pharmacists and technicians.

• Provide daily direction and manage workflow, staffing alignment, work queues, service levels, and task completion.

• Act as the primary escalation point for workflow, patient care, documentation, dispensing support, and client-specific protocols.

• Manage urgent, same-day, next-business-day, cycle-fill, and other operational requests effectively.

• Track team productivity, quality, and timeliness while communicating any concerns and opportunities for improvement.

• Aid in onboarding, training, coaching, and the continuous development of staff.

• Uphold standard operating procedures, documentation standards, quality expectations, and compliance obligations.

• Oversee Same Day Technician Pre-Check and Pharmacist Verification queues.

• Assist with ATM dispensing, Community Pharmacy Network transfers, medication procurement, billing, insurance, and processing tasks.

• Maintain patient-specific medication records and care documentation.

• Address medication-related queries, escalations, requests, changes, and clinical information.

• Help pharmacists in identifying medication-related issues and creating recommendations.

• Facilitate medication profile review, cycle-fill review, medication review preparation, counseling, education, and clinical clarification.

• Support prospective drug utilization review and take part in on-call or after-hours activities as assigned.

• Ensure compliance with quality standards, documentation quality, dispensing support issues, and operational obstacles.

• Aid in the investigation and resolution of quality assurance incidents, HIPAA issues, fraud, waste, abuse, and medication access challenges.

• Provide reports, feedback, and analysis to the Community Pharmacy Team Manager.

• Collaborate with operations, clinical leadership, account management, IT, software development, fulfillment, and other stakeholders.

• Engage in process improvement, staff education, workflow redesign, and the roll-out of new procedures or technology.

• Communicate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, clients, prescribers, patients, caregivers, community pharmacies, and internal departments.

• Escalate urgent or high-risk issues and foster collaboration between pharmacists and technicians.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• PharmD is required.

• BCGP certification is mandatory.

• A current, active license in the state of NJ is essential.

• Must be registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, PACE, long-term care, community pharmacy, or a related healthcare field is required.

• Previous experience in providing daily team guidance, workflow coordination, training, mentoring, or informal leadership is necessary.

• Background in a call center, centralized pharmacy, clinical operations, medication management, or high-volume pharmacy setting is preferred.

• Familiarity with quality assurance, documentation review, performance improvement, and staff coaching is essential.

• Experience working with geriatric patients, medically complex populations, or interdisciplinary care teams is advantageous.

• Proficient with internal pharmacy systems, EHR platforms, pharmacy dispensing systems, clinical decision support tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

• Demonstrated technical and computer proficiency with pharmacy software.

• Capable problem-solving, conflict resolution, and project management skills are essential.

• Detail-oriented and organized; able to work urgently, under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines without compromising quality.

• Excellent data entry skills are required.

• Strong analytical skills, clinical judgment, and decision-making abilities are necessary.

• Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, including HIPAA and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse is crucial.

• High integrity and a commitment to quality, innovation, and steadfastness are important.

• Availability to work from 10:00 AM–6:30 PM ET, Thursday through Monday.

• Full-time commitment averaging 40 hours per week, including ad hoc availability outside normal business hours.

• Participation in a rotating weekly on-call oversight schedule is required.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
