Community Mortgage Loan Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Identify, cultivate, and sustain relationships with community-based organizations, Realtors, and local government agencies for mortgage referrals.

• Process residential mortgage loan applications while conveying underwriting decisions, offers, and counteroffers.

• Enhance mortgage loan volume with a focus on CRA, low- and moderate-income, multicultural, and first-time homebuyer clients.

• Investigate organizations and agencies that assist low- and moderate-income individuals and communities.

• Build partnerships with nonprofits, Realtors, state and local housing offices, and affordable housing entities.

• Represent the bank at housing seminars, financial literacy workshops, affordable housing conferences, and community events.

• Clarify mortgage products and services, suggest solutions, communicate loan terms, and finalize sales transactions.

• Promote additional company products and services when appropriate.

• Assist customers throughout the application process, including disclosures, documentation, processing timelines, and closing dates.

• Collaborate with customers, underwriters, processors, Realtors, closing agents, and other stakeholders to ensure timely application processing.

• Attend closings as necessary.

• Update management on progress toward goals and seek assistance when required.

• Originate and sell residential mortgage loans in accordance with established policies, procedures, and legal/regulatory standards.

• Communicate loan decisions and submit required materials to processing and underwriting to address conditions and prepare for closing.

• Stay informed on local real estate trends, mortgage policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Develop and maintain referral networks with brokers, builders, attorneys, accountants, financial planners, and other industry professionals.

• Input loan data into mortgage systems and create necessary supporting files and documentation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent progressive work experience beyond the required experience.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.

• An expanding network of external contacts to generate high-quality referral business.

• Self-motivated, with the ability to plan activities aimed at achieving sales targets.

• Strong time management abilities.

• Proficiency in PC skills, including knowledge of mortgage origination and automated underwriting systems.

• Must retain an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).

• Established connections with community-based organizations, municipalities, and agencies focused on affordable housing and education for first-time homebuyers.

• Proven sales capabilities.

• Comprehensive understanding of the mortgage industry, products, lending practices, and regulatory guidelines.

• Minimum annual loan origination target of 48 LMI/multicultural units.

• Must qualify for employment with a covered financial institution as per Regulation Z.

• Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with NMLS under the SAFE Act.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check and credit report check.

• Required declarations/certifications regarding administrative, civil, and/or criminal findings.

• Occasional domestic travel required; no international travel.
