Communications Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage with and support the Communications Department's external outreach through owned, earned, and social media channels.

• Assist in creating and disseminating blog posts, press statements and releases, social media content, graphics, and the weekly tipsheet.

• Upload content to LCV websites and aid in website-related projects.

• Distribute LCV's daily news summaries to staff nationwide.

• Maintain updated press lists.

• Collect content during press events.

• Pitch to press as required.

• Prioritize racial justice and equity in communications while ensuring cultural competence in all materials.

• Monitor and distribute daily news articles referencing LCV and its state affiliates.

• Assist in drafting and disseminating the weekly press tipsheet.

• Create culturally competent communication materials that reflect priorities in environmental justice and democracy.

• Coordinate and gather content at events.

• Upload blogs and press releases to LCV's website.

• Oversee and evaluate website projects.

• Help maintain photo and video libraries.

• Participate in the Spring 2027 internship cohort, which includes a Capstone project, informational interviews, training, and discussions.

• Applicants must be located in and legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Applicants must reside in the United States.

• Preferred qualifications include coursework in Communications, relevant work experience, extracurricular activities, or familiarity with social media.

• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong research capabilities.

• Sound judgment and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Self-motivated and proactive.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.

• Preferred: Experience with press relations, graphic design, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva, or social media platforms.

• Preferred: Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems and Google Analytics.

• Demonstrated understanding of how personal life experiences shape attitudes, biases, and assumptions.

• Commitment to ongoing learning and the ability to provide culturally responsive services.

• Dedication to equity and inclusion as integral to organizational practice and culture.

• Awareness of the intersections between environmental issues and racism, economic, and social inequality in the U.S.

• Passion for addressing and dismantling systems of racial, economic, and social inequality.
