Commissioning Network Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete commissioning, provisioning, and integration of core routers, switches, firewalls, optical transport equipment, and edge devices in data center, campus, and ISP settings.

• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight evaluations, including failover tests and optical light-level checks.

• Ensure that hardware and network topology align with established architectural designs.

• Act as the ultimate L3 escalation contact during deployment periods.

• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate Layer 2/3 routing, switching, and security protocol challenges.

• Offer technical support and training to L1/L2 field technicians and contractors regarding physical fiber standards, console pinouts, and turn-up methodologies.

• Perform high-level acceptance testing and address crucial configuration and routing problems prior to production launch.

• Collaborate with deployment teams, network architects, and field engineers to seamlessly integrate new sites, data centers, and core network nodes without downtime.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in network engineering, deployment, or L3 support within an ISP, data center, or large enterprise setting.

• Proficient in BGP (iBGP/eBGP), OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS (L2VPN, L3VPN, VRFs).

• Familiarity with VXLAN, EVPN, STP/RSTP, LACP, VPC, and VLAN tagging techniques.

• Direct experience in configuring and commissioning devices from Juniper (Junos), Nokia (SR-OS/OLT), Siklu, and Ruckus Switches.

• Skilled in using network testing tools like IXIA, Spirent, and EXFO.

• Proficient in scripting languages/tools such as Ansible and YAML.

• Knowledgeable about optical power meters, OTDR testing, SMF/MMF fiber types, SFP+/QSFP28 transceiver diagnostics, and serial console pinout mapping.
