This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Define and take ownership of the commercial strategy encompassing sales, marketing, and bids/contracts.
• Supervise Account Management, New Business, and Marketing activities to achieve annual bookings, revenue, and retention goals.
• Maintain comprehensive P&L accountability for commercial operations.
• Lead the strategy for bidding and tender submissions in formal procurement and framework processes.
• Act as a sponsor for the largest and most critical pursuits.
• Formulate pricing and packaging strategies for software licensing and managed services.
• Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with clients, industry bodies, and partners.
• Negotiate and structure profitable, long-term commercial contracts and agreements.
• Ensure precise sales reporting, effective pipeline management, and accurate forecasting.
• Collaborate with the CTO and product teams to ensure alignment of the commercial proposition with market demands and integrate client insights into the product roadmap.
• Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing sales and marketing team.
• Personally oversee a select number of key accounts.
• Ensure adherence to commercial governance, contract compliance, and customer service throughout the client lifecycle.
• Report directly to the Managing Director and participate as a member of the leadership team.
• Proven understanding of the energy and/or water utility sectors, including regulatory and market influences such as Net Zero, Smart Metering, and Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement.
• Demonstrated history of establishing commercial strategies and driving profitable growth in a B2B software or technology environment.
• Familiarity with enterprise software solutions marketed to large, complex, and regulated organizations.
• Extensive experience in the UK energy, water, or utilities sector, with insights into complex, long-cycle sales and formal tender/framework processes.
• Experience in building and leading successful sales and marketing teams while managing a robust and well-forecast pipeline.
• Proven capability to build and sustain long-term relationships from operational contacts up to C-suite executives.
• Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills across a variety of professional backgrounds.
• Solid experience in contract negotiation and commercial frameworks with both suppliers and clients.
• Strong IT proficiency, including experience in managing sales and pipeline via a CRM system.
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
• A well-established profile and industry knowledge within the UK energy, water, or utilities software sector is highly advantageous.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is preferred, or comparable director-level commercial experience.
