This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee intricate collection portfolios, which include escalated accounts, aged balances, disputed receivables, legal-related accounts, and high-priority insurance carrier receivables.
• Collaborate with carriers, attorneys, customers, internal finance teams, operations, and leadership to uncover payment obstacles and facilitate timely resolutions.
• Conduct proactive follow-ups on outstanding invoices, payment statuses, portal submissions, claim documentation, and other collection necessities.
• Analyze account histories, billing information, insurance statements, customer communications, and supporting documentation to determine suitable collection actions.
• Act as an escalation point for complex customer issues and assist in resolving disputes, short payments, unapplied payments, and gaps in documentation.
• Help prioritize collection efforts, track aging trends, and identify accounts that require management attention or escalation.
• Provide support to team members by sharing best practices, addressing process inquiries, reviewing collection strategies, and ensuring consistent execution.
• May function as a team lead and take on supervisory duties over time, which may include coaching, coordinating workloads, following up on performance, and ensuring process compliance.
• Compile collection updates, account notes, aging commentary, and reporting insights to aid management reviews and month-end reporting.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, billing, customer service, or a related financial field.
• Preferably experienced in collecting on professional services invoices within a project-based organization, such as building consulting, engineering, construction consulting, forensic consulting, architecture, environmental consulting, insurance services, or similar professional services sectors.
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to investigate payment issues, resolve disputes, and identify underlying causes of non-payment.
• Exceptional organizational, follow-up, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Professional communication skills with customers, external partners, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems, such as NetSuite, is preferred.
• Familiarity with reporting tools like Power BI is a plus.
