Coding Manager – HIM Coding Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise inpatient coding operations for professional fees and/or facility, ensuring accuracy, productivity, and compliance with coding standards.

• Assess AI-generated coding assignments, which include ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnoses, procedure codes, CPT/HCPCS codes, and DRG assignments.

• Perform coding quality audits and deliver focused feedback to coding personnel and AI systems.

• Track coding KPIs, such as coder productivity, accuracy rates, unbilled accounts, and claim denial rates related to coding mistakes.

• Manage coding workflow queues, oversee work distribution, and ensure compliance with turnaround time requirements.

• Guarantee adherence to Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, and specific payer coding requirements.

• Offer continuous coding education and compliance training to coding staff.

• Collaborate with CDI, billing, and compliance teams to resolve revenue integrity issues related to coding.

• Annotate AI-generated coding outputs and provide structured feedback to enhance AI training datasets.

• Engage in projects aimed at training and improving AI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 2 years in a coding manager or HIM leadership position.

• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, and Official Coding Guidelines.

• Proficient in professional fee (profee) coding and/or facility inpatient coding, with experience in DRG assignment.

• Experience in conducting coding audits and creating coding quality improvement initiatives.

• Proficient with coding software (3M, Nuance, Optum360, TruCode) and EHR platforms.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect coding errors, compliance risks, and inaccuracies in AI outputs.

• CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT credentials are preferred.

• Experience with computer-assisted coding (CAC) tools and NLP-based coding platforms is preferred.

• Background in inpatient facility coding with DRG optimization experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with AI coding tools and comfort in evaluating AI-generated coding assignments is preferred.

• Experience presenting coding performance metrics and quality data to leadership is preferred.

• Must reside in the USA.
