
Coding Educator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Create and manage the delivery of educational programs focused on coding.
• Ensure the consistency and precision of coding and documentation practices.
• Serve as a point of contact for coding inquiries and concerns among providers, coding teams, corporate responsibilities, and educational departments.
• Evaluate provider documentation and coding skills to identify areas for improvement.
• Design and provide training and education on coding processes.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and collaborate with leadership to maintain compliance and revenue integrity.
• Act as a subject matter expert for providers and coders, offering guidance and clarification on daily account processing issues.
• Establish and coordinate internal quality review processes and relevant training.
• Assess provider documentation for clarity, completeness, and consistency to ensure optimal code selection.
• Teach providers about coding guidelines, practices, and documentation techniques.
• Conduct audits of provider documentation to uncover opportunities or risks, and develop educational resources based on the findings.
• Maintain open communication with coding and corporate responsibility regarding education and directives.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• A bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of three years of experience.
• One of the following professional certifications is required: Certified Coding Associate (CCA) - AHIMA; Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) - AHIMA; Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - AAPC; Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) - AAPC; Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA; or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AHIMA.
• Must be located in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.
• Regular use of a keyboard for data entry.
• Capability to meet the physical demands of the position, including frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, repetitive motions, and occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
