CNC Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, enhance, and validate CNC programs for 3–5 axis Vertical Machining Centers and Horizontal Machining Centers utilizing Mastercam.

• Analyze engineering drawings and 3D models to formulate efficient machining strategies.

• Design and document workholding and fixturing solutions to ensure repeatability and accuracy in machining processes.

• Select cutting tools, tooling, and machining parameters based on material properties, tolerances, and machine capabilities.

• Provide support for setup and prove-out on the shop floor, making necessary adjustments to toolpaths, feeds, and speeds.

• Implement probing cycles and Macro B programming to automate setup, verification, and in-process checks.

• Diagnose issues related to chatter, dimensional variation, workholding, and tool performance.

• Develop and maintain setup sheets, tool lists, and process documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and repeatability.

• Lead process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing cycle time, enhancing tool life, improving quality, and boosting workflow efficiency.

• Support the Quoting team by providing estimates for cycle times and fixture costs.

• Generate detailed setup layouts in SolidWorks, encompassing workholding, datums, tooling clearance, and machine orientation.

• Take ownership of projects from initial concept development through to full production readiness.

• Travel frequently, up to 50%, between six domestic locations.


⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in programming CNC machining centers.

• Proficient in Mastercam.

• Strong understanding of material machinability, cutting tools, and machining parameters.

• Hands-on experience with 3–5 axis Vertical Machining Centers and Horizontal Machining Centers.

• Capability to design fixtures, workholding, and tooling concepts.

• Comprehensive understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerancing.

• Experience with probing cycles and Macro B programming.

• Ability to independently manage projects from concept through to production readiness.

• Capacity to work closely with and train Process Engineers and machine operators.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• High school diploma or GED certificate.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in CNC setup and programming.

• At least 3 years of CNC programming experience.

• Only U.S. persons—U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders)—are eligible due to ITAR regulations.
