Cloud Software Engineer – Managed Kubernetes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain Kubernetes controllers and operators using Golang.

• Suggest innovative solutions to fulfill product requirements.

• Conduct research, assess, and recommend tools or components.

• Work closely with the Product Owner and the agile team to refine Product Backlog Increments and prioritize significant features.

• Enhance and maintain the platform for optimal high availability and scalability.

• Diagnose, replicate, debug, and resolve intricate issues.

• Collaborate on open-source initiatives.

• Engage in regular on-call responsibilities as the Engineer on Duty.

• Develop and enhance Leaseweb Managed Kubernetes, a platform that enables customers to deploy, manage, and update Kubernetes clusters.

• Focus on components related to virtual machine deployment, networking, volumes, firewall rules, load balancing, and integration with Leaseweb Public Cloud.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in developing Kubernetes operators using Golang.

• Proven and demonstrable expertise in programming languages, particularly Golang.

• Experience in developing and implementing Kubernetes components such as Operators, Controllers, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and Cluster API.

• Proficiency in creating container images utilizing Dockerfiles, Kubernetes manifests, and Helm charts.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and related projects.

• Solid understanding of cloud concepts, including networking, storage, and virtualization.

• Capability to collaborate with peers and conduct code reviews.

• Ability to work within a development team following standard Scrum practices.

• Strong communication skills.

• Nice to have: experience with large-scale Kubernetes deployments and CNCF tools.

• Nice to have: experience with continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins and ArgoCD.

• Nice to have: familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Icinga, Prometheus, Alert Manager, Loki, and Grafana.

• Nice to have: demonstrable understanding of Linux and operating system internals.

• Nice to have: experience with configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform.

• Nice to have: prior contributions to open-source projects.

• A Certified Kubernetes Administrator or similar certification will be considered.
