This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Spearhead the comprehensive strategy, design, and execution of cloud modernization projects for a multifaceted federal enterprise system.
• Design secure, scalable Google Cloud environments and facilitate migration from AWS utilizing rehosting, replatforming, and refactoring methodologies.
• Establish cloud governance, resource hierarchy, network architecture, IAM policies, and strategies for resiliency.
• Assist in the deployment of managed Google Cloud AI products, including Vertex AI endpoints, Gemini-based developer tools, and Dialogflow agents.
• Evaluate current architectures and formulate migration roadmaps, sequencing, and cutover plans.
• Align AWS services with their Google Cloud counterparts and ensure platform readiness for production workloads.
• Supervise containerization, orchestration, data migration, and the modernization of legacy components.
• Define and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, establish GitOps workflows, automate deployments, and enforce security gates and policy-as-code.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines for on-demand releases, automated testing, and compliance validation.
• Ensure that architecture deliverables, design artifacts, security documentation, readiness reviews, and testing methodologies comply with federal SDLC/SELC standards.
• Collaborate with program management, engineering teams, and federal stakeholders regarding lifecycle governance requirements.
• Implement observability measures across logging, monitoring, tracing, performance tuning, and resilience testing.
• Maintain expectations for high availability and continuity of operations for critical federal systems.
• Provide guidance to senior leadership and technical teams on architectural choices and modernization strategies.
• Mentor engineering teams across various Agile squads and assist in PI planning, backlog refinement, and architectural reviews.
• Represent cloud architecture in stakeholder engagements, technical forums, and enterprise planning activities.
• Design, implement, and oversee AI-enabled cloud solutions.
• Utilize generative AI, machine learning, and large language model technologies to create scalable, secure, and cost-effective enterprise solutions.
• Develop RAG architectures, vector search solutions, and AI-driven automation workflows that integrate enterprise data sources while adhering to security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least TEN (10+) years of progressive experience in cloud architecture and enterprise modernization.
• Proven experience in migrating complex systems from AWS to Google Cloud at scale.
• Extensive knowledge of GCP services: Compute, GKE, VPC networking, IAM, Cloud SQL/AlloyDB, BigQuery, KMS, and logging/monitoring.
• Strong understanding of federal SDLC/SELC or similar structured lifecycle methodologies.
• Expert-level skills in Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, and security engineering principles.
• Experience in leading large cloud engineering teams in Agile settings.
• Google Professional Cloud Architect certification (or to be obtained within the first 6 months of employment).
• Experience in modernizing large federal systems or other regulated enterprise environments.
• Practical experience with data modernization, analytics platforms, and cloud-native data pipelines.
• Experience in developing cloud governance frameworks, COE structures, FinOps practices, and strategies for cost optimization.
• Experience in deploying or integrating cloud-based AI/ML services, such as Google Cloud Vertex AI, Gemini, or Dialogflow, into enterprise applications.
• Ability to secure Public Trust clearance.
