This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.
• Act as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert for intricate casualty claims, encompassing auto bodily injury, general liability, premises liability, products liability, and high-exposure lawsuits.
• Provide oversight and strategic direction on large, complex, and high-exposure casualty claims.
• Mentor core liability claim handlers throughout the claim lifecycle, which includes coverage, liability, risk transfer, litigation management, exposure evaluation, reserving, and negotiation.
• Perform comprehensive technical reviews of claim files to guarantee thorough investigations, accurate liability assessments, and effective litigation strategies.
• Identify claim trends and enhance performance.
• Offer guidance on coverage analysis, damages evaluation, and exposure assessment.
• Assist in investigation, evaluation, reserving, litigation management, and resolution strategies for complex claims.
• Develop claim handlers through roundtable discussions, one-on-one coaching, collaboration on claim and litigation strategies, and by serving as a role model.
• Evaluate and communicate the progress of claim handlers and their readiness for advanced positions.
• Provide feedback, training, and insights into claims trends.
• Collaborate with Casualty Claims leadership to identify risk trends, operational opportunities, and areas for process improvement.
• Contribute to the development of claims-handling strategies, policies, and standards across the casualty organization.
• Over 10 years of experience in casualty claims, including handling complex, high-severity, and litigated liability claims.
• Management experience is a plus.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• CPCU, AIC, SCLA, JD, or similar credentials are advantageous.
• Proven expertise in coverage analysis, investigation strategy, litigation management, and negotiation for high severity exposures.
• Strong strategic decision-making abilities with a track record of delivering consistent quality, accurate reserving, and optimizing outcomes.
• Capacity to influence without authority; excellent communicator and collaborator; skilled in translating complex information into clear directives.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, mentor, and influence claim handlers of various experience levels.
• Executive presence with robust collaboration skills, capable of operating effectively in a matrixed claims environment.
• Fully remote or hybrid work arrangement.
