This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +11 more states.
β’ Oversee the management of open claims and incident reports actively.
β’ Facilitate ongoing communication with carrier claims departments and adjusters.
β’ Inform Negley management and underwriting staff of important claim updates.
β’ Evaluate open files and question claim handling when necessary.
β’ Recognize issues that need escalation.
β’ Maintain awareness of claim status, litigation strategies, reserves, settlement activities, coverage concerns, and emerging loss trends.
β’ Act as the primary claims liaison for Negley with carrier partners, brokers, insured parties, defense counsel, and other stakeholders.
β’ Convert claims insights into enhanced underwriting decisions, improved account management, superior service, and better portfolio performance.
β’ Create and execute strategic plans and policies for claims operations.
β’ Offer leadership and direction to claims managers and teams.
β’ Supervise complex claims cases to ensure resolutions align with company standards and regulatory guidelines.
β’ Track claims metrics, spot trends, evaluate performance, and suggest process enhancements.
β’ Work in collaboration with underwriting and risk management teams.
β’ Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing levels.
β’ Ensure adherence to state and federal claims regulations.
β’ Cultivate and sustain relationships with reinsurers, legal teams, and external vendors.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related discipline.
β’ Proven experience with professional liability, general liability, or other specialty liability claims.
β’ Over 5 years of leadership experience in claims management.
β’ A successful history of executing strategic initiatives and enhancing processes within claims operations.
β’ Familiarity with insurance carrier claims departments, adjusters, brokers, insured individuals, and senior management.
β’ Strong grasp of insurance coverage, litigation management, reserving, settlement strategies, oversight of defense counsel, and claims operations.
β’ Demonstrated capability to analyze claim data, identify critical issues, ensure follow-up, and communicate implications to underwriting and executive leadership.
β’ Excellent leadership, judgment, negotiation, analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
β’ Strategic mindset with an emphasis on operational efficiency and risk management.
β’ Fluency in English is required.
β’ Preferred: Experience in behavioral healthcare, healthcare liability, human services, or other specialty casualty risks.
β’ Preferred: Knowledge of professional liability, general liability, directors and officers liability, sexual misconduct liability, and related specialty coverages.
