This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.
• Review and prepare summaries of veterans’ claims files, which include VA decisions and medical evidence.
• Analyze VA laws and regulations to identify legal errors and compose briefs accordingly.
• Examine medical records, applications, and medical development profiles to determine necessary records to request.
• Choose and dispatch appropriate disability benefit questionnaires to medical providers.
• Assist claimants in drafting lay statements.
• Draft letters requesting independent medical opinions and create case summaries.
• Identify and send the correct VA disability benefit questionnaires.
• Review claims-agent briefs, providing proofreading and conducting research.
• Evaluate cases for technical issues and medical eligibility.
• Research reference materials to support case development and documentation.
• Process work accurately and in a timely manner.
• Document conversations and actions in system notes.
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of VA programs and procedures.
• Review claims for viability and closure.
• Contact claimants and clients to discuss and review cases.
• Participate in training sessions and demonstrations.
• Mentor peers and support staff.
• Assist with claims-agent tasks, including claim status updates, drafting appeals, and completing VA forms.
• Work on special projects.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of two years of experience handling Veteran's disability claims is necessary.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to learn and apply technical instructions effectively.
• Professional communication skills for oral and telephone interactions.
• Excellent organizational skills are required.
• High level of initiative is expected.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel is essential.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality concerning claimant information and other sensitive Allsup information.
