This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Champion the implementation of MoveOn’s vision, strategic direction, and operational framework.
• Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team, reporting to the Executive Director, and collaborate with department heads to convert strategic goals into actionable objectives and KPIs for the Operations Department.
• Lead and manage the Operations Department alongside a distributed, high-performing team across the United States.
• Formulate strategies for financial sustainability, annual budgeting, reserves, forecasting, and analysis.
• Establish frameworks for operational and fiscal management, including standards, systems, and best practices.
• Supervise budgeting, grant management, income reporting, and financial information dissemination to boards, staff, and stakeholders.
• Oversee human resources, organizational development, talent planning, retention, succession planning, performance management, DEIA initiatives, and workforce well-being.
• Direct the People Team and manage talent acquisition, development, total rewards, offboarding, change management, culture-building, and team-building efforts.
• Lead enterprise risk management initiatives to mitigate financial, operational, employment, and reputational risks.
• Supervise legal operations, board governance, fiduciary responsibilities, compliance, transparency, liability insurance, audits, and reporting related to campaign finance, lobbying, tax, and charitable registration.
• Maintain resource separation agreements among MoveOn entities.
• Represent the organization publicly as required and perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
• A minimum of 5 years in a COO, CFO, or similar role within a mid-sized multi-entity nonprofit organization.
• Over 10 years of senior-level or executive leadership experience in leading high-performing operational functions, ideally in political, nonprofit, advocacy, and/or social justice settings.
• Experience with multi-entity organizations, including C3, C4, and PAC entities.
• Proven track record in financial projections, forecasting, and business modeling.
• Extensive experience in assessing and mitigating operational, financial, and reputational risks.
• Strong understanding of and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with an emphasis on integrating equity-centered practices into communications, culture, and organizational strategy.
• Capability to think strategically and translate broad goals and strategies into operational objectives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to simplify complex organizational data into clear messages for diverse audiences.
• Experience managing and leading high-performing teams across Finance and People departments.
• Proficiency in managing complex projects and deadlines across departments while effectively prioritizing tasks.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
