This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Act as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to the Managing Director and the leadership team.
• Evaluate competing priorities, emerging challenges, risks, dependencies, and strategic trade-offs.
• Deliver objective analysis, recommendations, and escalation assistance.
• Organize strategic information, issues, decisions, and materials across leadership teams, the Board, and various departments.
• Oversee the project management of WES Canada contributions to enterprise-level and global board/leadership reporting.
• Manage the logistics and operations of WES Canada Board governance.
• Coordinate the Managing Director’s internal and external commitments, including Board and committee materials, briefings, meetings, and follow-ups.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the Managing Director’s annual work plan and WES Canada strategic priorities.
• Track progress, report outcomes, address obstacles, and support leadership decision-making processes.
• Supervise selected high-priority strategic initiatives, special projects, task forces, and working groups.
• Manage executive reporting and dashboards in collaboration with Finance, Strategy, and departmental leaders.
• Convert enterprise-wide strategic priorities into Canada-specific execution plans while highlighting Canada-specific issues at higher levels.
• Oversee the coordination of departmental annual budgets, including shared services, shared costs, and cross-entity resource distribution.
• Facilitate communications from the Managing Director, which includes correspondence, announcements, presentations, talking points, and speeches.
• Foster trusted relationships with department and enterprise leaders.
• Represent the Managing Director at designated internal and external meetings, briefings, and events.
• Gather insights, coordinate next steps, and brief relevant parties.
• Provide people management, oversight, and mentorship for administrative staff.
• Oversee consultants, honoraria, and other budget expenses related to WES Canada.
• A degree in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, public policy, organizational leadership, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8–10 years of relevant work experience, with a strong preference for strategy execution, executive advisory support, organizational leadership, project or program management, policy, or business operations.
• Outstanding project management capabilities in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience in managing complex, cross-functional initiatives or executive priorities involving numerous senior stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and judgment abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the preparation of executive correspondence, Board materials, presentations, speeches, briefing notes, and decision papers.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint.
• Experience in developing and monitoring executive work plans, organizational priorities, dashboards, or key performance indicators.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
• Familiarity with inclusive and participatory models for strategy development, planning, decision-making, and/or budgeting.
• Interpersonal skills characterized by tact, diplomacy, and flexibility.
• Experience building trust and credibility with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment while managing competing priorities under pressure.
• Strong experience in people management and supervision.
• Proficiency in oral and written French.
• Multisector experience is preferred.
• Experience with frameworks and models for strategy development, scenario planning, organizational decision-making, performance measurement, and budgeting is desired.
• Experience in public, nonprofit, social impact, regulatory, professional association, or private sectors is also desired.
