Chief Marketing Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the comprehensive marketing strategy and growth initiatives in collaboration with the founders and leadership team.

• Convert company objectives into marketing priorities, channel strategies, investment choices, and measurable results.

• Define the marketing vision, operational cadence, and strategic roadmap.

• Manage and enhance brand positioning, voice, messaging, and consumer narrative.

• Create a distinctive premium brand and scalable messaging frameworks.

• Lead customer acquisition efforts across paid, organic, creator-led, affiliate, and community channels.

• Identify channel priorities and distribute marketing investments based on performance, growth potential, and customer economics.

• Develop a creator and influencer growth strategy, including partnerships, campaigns, and measurement frameworks.

• Personally oversee key creator relationships during the initial phases.

• Supervise the setup of paid acquisition campaigns, including creative requirements, quality assurance, testing, and optimization.

• Formulate customer lifecycle strategies encompassing onboarding, engagement, retention, churn prevention, and win-back initiatives.

• Create email and SMS programs using platforms like Klaviyo.

• Develop initiatives focused on retention, referrals, loyalty, and subscriber lifetime value.

• Manage the customer journey from acquisition through subscription and ongoing engagement.

• Enhance landing pages, offers, checkout processes, subscription flows, and the Shopify technology stack.

• Establish measurement frameworks and monitor CAC, LTV, subscriber conversion, retention, churn, ROAS, and channel performance.

• Build marketing operations infrastructure, workflows, campaign calendars, quality assurance standards, and reporting routines.

• Coordinate content and campaign production across both internal and external resources.

• Create repeatable marketing and go-to-market playbooks for geographic expansion.

• Develop systems and capabilities to scale the marketing function effectively.

• Identify hiring needs and build a high-performing marketing team as the business expands.

• Collaborate closely with founders, leadership, creators, influencers, specialists, external partners, and the Operations Manager.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in growth marketing, brand marketing, marketing leadership, or related fields, with substantial ownership of acquisition, retention, and commercial outcomes.

• Proven ability to own marketing strategy, make independent investment decisions, and link marketing activities to overarching business objectives.

• Strong background in building and scaling direct-to-consumer or subscription growth programs.

• Demonstrated experience in both paid and organic acquisition, with a solid understanding of channel economics.

• Hands-on experience in developing email, SMS, retention, churn reduction, referral, loyalty, and LTV programs.

• Proven track record in building or scaling creator, influencer, affiliate, or community-led acquisition initiatives.

• Strong judgment in positioning, messaging, voice, and the development of premium consumer brands.

• Comprehensive understanding of CAC, LTV, retention, churn, ROAS, conversion, and channel performance, with the capability to transform data into commercial decisions.

• Experience in creating repeatable go-to-market strategies and scaling marketing across various markets or customer segments.

• Ability to construct systems, processes, workflows, and infrastructure necessary to scale a marketing function from a relatively blank slate.

• Comfortable with personally building, managing, analyzing, and optimizing marketing programs while the function remains lean.

• Capability to identify future needs, hire effectively, and develop a high-performing marketing team as the business scales.

• Comfortable working in ambiguous situations, with limited infrastructure, and minimal guidance.

• Excellent written and verbal English skills.

• Strong proficiency in AI tools and a willingness to integrate tools like Claude into research, analysis, campaign development, content workflows, and marketing operations.

• Expected to work a split shift with some overlap with the client’s time zone.

• Required to attend in-person training programs during the initial 3.5 weeks.
