Chief Investment Officer – Head of Investments

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and take ownership of the Investment Policy Statement along with the 50/30/20 model portfolio framework across various risk bands.

• Select and manage the fund/ETF lineup using well-defined and justifiable due diligence criteria (cost, liquidity, tax efficiency, tracking accuracy).

• Establish the rebalancing and tax-loss-harvesting strategies and collaborate closely with the current 14-person engineering team to implement them into a functional product.

• Act as the designated investment lead in Form ADV as well as in client-facing and marketing communications.

• Collaborate with the General Counsel and the existing compliance team to operate a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) alongside broker-dealer and funding-portal operations.

• Provide compliant talking points for licensed representatives when discussing advisory accounts with clients.

• Report directly to the CEO / President, taking full responsibility for the investment function.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have personally developed and managed model portfolios at a small-to-midsize RIA or robo-advisor — hands-on experience, not delegated responsibilities.

• CFA charter or a comparable proven track record; we prioritize what you have accomplished over the credentials you hold.

• Proficient understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset allocation strategies, and passive fund/ETF selection.

• Comfortable being publicly recognized as the representative of an investment strategy, including in regulatory filings.

• Capable of drafting product requirements that an engineering team can directly build from, without the need for a mediator.

• Startup mentality: you are tasked with establishing this function from the ground up, rather than inheriting an existing department.
