This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota.
• Establish and guide the Bank's comprehensive credit risk management framework.
• Formulate and implement strategies that balance portfolio growth, profitability, and risk management.
• Act as the primary executive accountable for the quality and performance of the loan portfolio.
• Monitor credit concentrations, industry trends, economic conditions, emerging risks, and portfolio developments.
• Manage action plans aimed at reducing charge-offs, credit losses, and non-performing assets.
• Ensure uniform application of risk ratings, underwriting standards, and credit administration practices.
• Report on portfolio performance and provide recommendations to executive management and the Board of Directors.
• Develop, maintain, and oversee credit policies and procedures.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with relevant banking regulations.
• Supervise the Loan Review Program and independent assessments of credit quality.
• Engage with regulatory agencies and external auditors for credit-related evaluations.
• Lead the processes of underwriting, approval, monitoring, renewal, and collection.
• Supervise annual reviews, risk ratings, covenant compliance, and management of problem loans.
• Manage criticized and classified assets.
• Direct the creation of credit analysis tools, portfolio reporting systems, and credit technologies.
• Lead and develop the Credit Department; recruit, mentor, and retain credit professionals.
• Cultivate a robust risk management culture and conduct succession planning.
• Encourage collaboration among lending, sales, operations, finance, compliance, and executive teams.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in commercial, agricultural, consumer, and specialty lending.
• Design and implement credit training programs.
• Coach lenders and bankers on underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management.
• Support complex credit opportunities and engage in significant customer meetings and business development.
• Present credit portfolio performance, risk trends, and policy recommendations to the Board and committees.
• Prepare annual assessments of credit risk and strategic credit initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
• Over seven years of progressively responsible experience focusing on commercial, agricultural, and consumer credit.
• At least five years of direct line lending experience is preferred.
• Strong background in credit administration, portfolio management, loan review, and regulatory compliance.
• Exceptional skills in presentation, customer relations, interpersonal communication, organization, delegation, and team building.
• Proven capability to influence executive leadership, regulators, and Board members.
• Proficient in personal computer applications; experience with Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.
