This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Analyze medical record documentation to ascertain the correct billing codes and required documentation.
• Identify essential information necessary for selecting comprehensive diagnoses and procedures that accurately reflect patients’ conditions and treatments.
• Code evaluation and management using appropriate CPT codes and assign suitable ICD-10 codes for diagnoses.
• Collaborate with physicians to review documentation, address coding issues, and obtain signatures for any unsigned dates of service.
• Flag files for follow-up actions.
• Serve as the lead individual and support coders and IBC staff with medical terminology and policy interpretation.
• Aid in enhancing physician understanding of documentation requirements.
• Prepare case reports and initiate follow-up procedures for the billing process.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Must possess one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or any AAPC specialty-specific coding credential).
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding is essential.
• No specific prior work experience is necessary.
• A diploma, certification, or degree is not a requirement.
• A driver's license is not mandatory.
• Must undergo applicable pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check and verification of employment and education or licensure/certification as relevant.
• Preferred: Previous coding experience or equivalent experience to an associate’s degree in a related field.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, and Medical Terminology.
