This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Analyze documentation to extract essential information necessary for selecting comprehensive diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign evaluation and management codes to the corresponding CPT code.
• Classify diagnoses with the appropriate ICD-10 code.
• Collaborate with physicians to review documentation, resolve coding discrepancies, and obtain signatures for unsigned service dates.
• Tag files for future follow-up.
• Serve as the lead individual and support coders and IBC staff with medical terminology and policy interpretation.
• Aid in increasing physician awareness regarding documentation requirements.
• Compile case reports and initiate follow-up on the billing process.
• Submit appeals to insurance companies.
• Engage in special projects.
• Investigate low payment issues and other payer-related concerns.
• Conduct advanced appeal activities, including reviewing payer policies.
• Manage charge corrections.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• Must possess one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or any of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials).
• Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Preferred: previous coding experience or an equivalent experience to an associate’s degree in a related field.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
• Preferred skills: Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology.
• A diploma, certification, or degree is not mandatory.
• No specific work experience is required.
• Driver's license is not necessary.
