This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Conduct thorough site surveys, installation, integration, and testing of customer-premise fiber systems and routers through dispatch work tickets.
• Install and test fiber systems in accordance with Telco Standards.
• Set up telecommunications equipment, including data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls.
• Install cable trays and/or racking based on engineering documents and drawings.
• Identify, label, measure, terminate, and route both AC/DC power and data cables.
• Perform testing and document the performance characteristics of hardware and software.
• Execute testing, turn-up, and integration tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, technical, and project-related challenges.
• Carry out in-process and final quality audits and validations.
• Keep precise installation and project documentation.
• Engage with customers, vendors, Installation, Engineering, Project Management, and other team members.
• Review documentation related to subordinate time and expenses.
• Conduct emergency break/fix repairs and manage outage callouts.
• Travel within the home region using a company vehicle, including overnight stays when necessary.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Minimum of 5+ years of installation experience or a combination of experience and training as determined by company management.
• Previous leadership experience is required.
• High school diploma along with two years of technical schooling or a combination of training and experience pertinent to telecommunications field installations.
• Proficient in installation skills and testing according to Telco Standards.
• Extensive equipment installation and system testing/integration experience.
• Familiarity with transport equipment such as Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Nortel, Nokia, DELL, and Juniper.
• Strong understanding of fiber installation standards and procedures.
• Ability to read and adhere to Method of Procedures, order specifications, floor plans, equipment, and wiring documentation.
• Skills in turn-up and integration system testing.
• Competence in generating MOPs, high-risk activity reports, work schedules, test records, and project completion reports.
• Proficient in laptop computer skills and familiar with various applications.
• Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to comprehend and follow company/customer policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Ability to comply with OSHA Standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Capability to pass pre-employment background checks and be insurable.
• Willingness to work various shifts and travel overnight if necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, walk, climb ladders, and crawl in confined spaces.
• Experience with Verizon network equipment installation and maintenance or equivalent is a plus.
• Experience with Verizon commercial premise installation is an advantage.
