This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of and implement the strategic vision for the Casualty vertical.
• Articulate the value proposition, market positioning, and growth strategy for the vertical.
• Define underwriting priorities, target sectors, and casualty product offerings.
• Act as the internal expert on liability risks, litigation trends, and developments in the casualty market.
• Propel new business development by fostering relationships with retail brokers, carriers, MGAs, and program administrators.
• Collaborate with brokers to identify, pursue, and secure intricate casualty placements.
• Provide support for key accounts that involve high-hazard and challenging liability risks.
• Oversee renewal production and ensure profitability targets are met.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with casualty carriers and excess liability markets.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, limits, and capacity for complex casualty placements.
• Train and mentor producers on casualty coverage, market conditions, liability exposures, and placement tactics.
• Work in partnership with Operations, Marketing, and Leadership to enhance the Casualty vertical.
• Optimize workflows, submission quality, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to carrier and regulatory standards.
• Keep abreast of emerging liability risks, social inflation, nuclear verdicts, and regulatory changes.
• Represent the company at industry events and conferences focused on casualty.
• Create white papers, webinars, and educational materials.
• Achieve revenue growth, profitability, market access, complex placements, effective producer training, and broker engagement.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in casualty insurance, underwriting, brokerage, or wholesale distribution.
• In-depth knowledge of primary casualty, excess liability, umbrella, and specialty liability products.
• Proven track record of driving business growth and market expansion.
• Strong comprehension of casualty underwriting, liability risks, and complex coverage frameworks.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, negotiation, and relationship management.
• Experience in building or leading a casualty practice is preferred.
• Background in wholesale brokerage or specialty casualty is preferred.
• Established connections with casualty carriers and excess liability markets are preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
