This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Identify, onboard, and oversee a network of carriers to meet freight requirements.
• Leverage load boards (such as DAT, Truckstop, etc.) to align freight with available capacity.
• Negotiate favorable rates with carriers to optimize profit margins.
• Establish and nurture long-lasting relationships with carrier partners.
• Oversee the execution of shipments and guarantee timely deliveries.
• Engage with carriers through phone, email, and system platforms (EDI/TMS).
• Discover opportunities to broaden the carrier network and enhance operational efficiency.
• Price spot and project freight in real-time, balancing winning chances against target margins.
• Evaluate lane rates using DAT RateView, Greenscreens, market indices, and internal historical data.
• Develop and maintain lane-level pricing models, cost floors, and margin targets categorized by region, mode, and equipment type.
• Quickly respond to high-volume spot quotes within tight SLAs while ensuring precision.
• Monitor quote-to-book conversion rates, win/loss ratios per customer and lane, and suggest pricing modifications.
• Observe capacity cycles, fuel prices, seasonality, and lane imbalances, and alert on market shifts before they impact margins.
• Collaborate with carrier sales, operations, and account management to ensure pricing reflects actual costs, not theoretical ones.
• Create reports in Excel and BI tools to assist leadership in making decisions regarding capacity and commitments.
• 2–4 years of experience in carrier sales, Spot Pricing, freight brokerage, logistics, sales, or a customer-facing position.
• Strong comprehension of North American lanes and market dynamics.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables, lookups, and large datasets); familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or Tableau is highly advantageous.
• Experience with load boards and rate tools like DAT, DAT RateView, Truckstop, or Greenscreens.
• Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
• Proficient in MS Office and transportation systems.
• Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is considered an asset.
