This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Formulate and implement carrier procurement strategies that align with business goals, service needs, and cost objectives.
• Identify, assess, and onboard carriers across various transportation modes.
• Recognize and manage carriers that specialize in high-risk, high-value, and pharmaceutical shipments.
• Oversee carrier contract negotiations, ensuring competitive pricing, favorable terms, and service-level agreements.
• Create frameworks for carrier performance management, including scorecards, KPIs, and regular business evaluations.
• Track service, cost, compliance, and risk performance while initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with Operations, Brokerage, and Customer Solutions teams to ensure carrier capabilities meet customer needs.
• Ensure that carriers comply with regulatory, safety, insurance, and compliance standards.
• Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies.
• Analyze market trends, capacity changes, and rate fluctuations to refine procurement strategies.
• Enhance procurement processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Support preferred carrier programs and cultivate long-term strategic partnerships.
• Maintain accurate records, contracts, and documentation for carriers within company systems.
• Undertake additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or carrier procurement.
• Strong preference for experience in sourcing and managing carriers for high-value, high-risk, or pharmaceutical freight.
• Demonstrated experience in negotiating transportation contracts and managing carrier relationships.
• Experience in brokerage, asset-based transportation, or 3PL environments is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of transportation markets, carrier networks, and procurement strategies.
• Understanding of compliance, security, and regulatory requirements pertaining to specialized freight.
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret market data and trends.
• Capability to balance cost, service, and risk in decision-making processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams.
• High attention to detail along with strong organizational abilities.
• Capacity to operate strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work primarily in a sedentary position at a computer, with effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to occasionally stand, walk, and lift up to 15 pounds.
• Willingness to undertake limited travel as necessary.
